Moro Memoirs

Moro Memoirs is a digital heritage platform dedicated to documenting, mapping, and preserving the stories, cultural landscapes, and lived memories of the Muslim people in the Philippines, or what the invaders call Moro. Through research, oral history, and community collaboration, we build a living archive of identity, resistance, and faith.

Commissioner - Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage - Basilan

As Commissioner of the Bangsamoro Commission on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH) – Basilan, I express my full support for the Moro Memoirs initiative, a meaningful platform dedicated to documenting and preserving the rich cultural heritage, historical narratives, and lived experiences of the Bangsamoro people.

At a time when many local histories and cultural traditions remain underrepresented in mainstream narratives, initiatives like Moro Memoirs play a vital role in ensuring that the voices, memories, and identities of our communities are properly recorded and shared with future generations. By mapping cultural heritage sites, highlighting historical figures, and documenting both tangible and intangible heritage, this project contributes greatly to our collective mission of safeguarding our cultural legacy.

I also extend my sincere congratulations to Mr. Barjunaid T. Cadir for reaching this important milestone in building Moro Memoirs. His dedication to research, documentation, and cultural preservation reflects the very values that we continue to uphold in our work at BCPCH.

I look forward to seeing Moro Memoirs grow into an important digital archive and cultural resource for Basilan and the broader Bangsamoro community. May this initiative continue to inspire greater appreciation, protection, and celebration of our shared heritage.
